An official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated on Monday that the technology of brain-computer interfaces would receive significant support in the future industrial growth of China, and that more efforts will be made to speed advancement in the sector.
At the Zhongguancun Forum, which is now taking place, Zhao Zhiguo, the chief engineer at the MIIT, stated that faster efforts will be made to investigate application scenarios for the technology.
The goal of brain-computer interface (BCI) technology is to establish a two-way channel of communication between the human brain and an external device such as a computer.
It is widely recognized as an essential piece of technology in several sectors, including medicine.
“In the field of BCI, China now possesses a fully developed industry chain that incorporates both technology and application.
Applications similar to those described have already been put to use in fields such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, and the entertainment industry, he explained.
