On Monday, newly appointed CEO of Twitter Linda Yaccarino revealed her vision for the social media app, repeating some of the talking points that Twitter owner Elon Musk has used to describe the social media platform as a “global town square” and an authoritative information source.
The current CEO of Twitter is the former head of advertising at NBCUniversal, and on Monday he lauded Elon Musk’s accomplishments in the fields of space exploration and manufacturing electric vehicles in a series of tweets.
She hinted that Twitter 2.0 will revolutionize “the global town square” in a similar manner, which is a metaphor for Twitter’s place in the globe that Musk regularly uses.
According to Yaccarino, “it is also becoming clear that the global town square needs transformation.” This transition is necessary “to drive civilization forward through the unfiltered exchange of information and open dialogue about the things that matter most to us.”
She repeated Elon Musk’s comments on Twitter 2.0 being a “global town square.”
She made the observation that Twitter will develop into “the world’s most accurate real-time information source and a global town square for communication.”
Musk, on the other hand, defended the practice of filtering material in Turkey while the country was holding its presidential elections in May.
Yaccarino summed up the conversation by saying, “Let’s dig our heels in (four inches or flat!) and build Twitter 2.0 together.”
Since Musk’s takeover of Twitter in 2022, the company has been making efforts to reduce its operational expenses. According to rumors from the beginning of May, the staff of the firm was reduced to about 1,000 individuals.
According to the technology publications The Platformer and The Information, Twitter also refused to pay the payments that were owed to Google and Amazon for the cloud platform services that were given by the two businesses.
Once free aspects of Twitter’s platform and app, such as the blue verification tick, have been further monetized to generate revenue for the company.
While Yaccarino is in charge of Twitter, Musk has stated that he will concentrate on the development of new products and technologies.
