WhatsApp, an instant messaging platform owned by Meta, has released two new privacy-enhancing features: Silence Unknown Callers and Privacy Checkup.
The Mute Unknown Callers feature automatically blocks calls from unknown numbers, spam, and possible scammers.
These communications will be silently forwarded to the user’s Call list, allowing them to be reviewed at a later time. This feature safeguards against missing essential calls from unrecognized numbers while preventing unsolicited interruptions.
Unknown callers may now be silenced on WhatsApp.
The Privacy Checkup feature, on the other hand, functions as a step-by-step guide to assist users in configuring their privacy settings to their desired level of protection.
Users can enhance the security of their messages, calls, and personal information by selecting “Start checkup” within the Privacy settings.
This feature seeks to consolidate all important privacy settings in a single location for user convenience.
“Protecting the privacy of your communications continues to drive our development efforts at WhatsApp.
While End-to-end encryption is the foundation for ensuring the security of your calls and messages, we continue to add additional layers of privacy, such as the recently introduced Chat Lock to protect sensitive chats behind a password, Disappearing Messages that disappear, screenshot blocking for View Once, and the ability to keep your online presence private,” WhatsApp wrote in a blog post on Tuesday.
