Hexagon AB, a provider of digital reality solutions that combines sensor, software, and autonomous technologies, has partnered with Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation, an image sensor company, to advance Hexagon’s industry-leading reality capture solutions, including the Leica BLK product family.
Through this partnership, Hexagon will integrate Sony’s advanced Time-of-Flight image sensor and software technologies into its reality capture solutions to increase their speed and precision.
The collaboration between Hexagon and Sony will result in a streamlined workflow for data capture and processing, decreasing the time required to capture and deliver results.
By combining Sony’s library of sophisticated processing software with Hexagon’s reality capture capabilities, the companies will develop solutions that provide quicker feedback in the field and more comprehensive data capture capabilities.
BLK2GO PULSE will be used for close-range indoor point cloud visualization.
Hexagon will incorporate Sony’s capabilities into the development of the new Leica BLK2GO PULSE, the first phase of the partnership.
The transportable reality capture device combines Sony’s advanced Time-of-Flight technology and Hexagon’s proven GrandSLAM technology, creating a quick, simple, and intuitive first-person scanning method to capture only what you need, when you need it, from your perspective.
The BLK2GO PULSE, whose release is scheduled for early 2024, will be a novel and disruptive addition to the BLK2GO product family.
All BLK2GO solutions allow for instantaneous data access and collaboration between project teams, as well as effortless publishing to the cloud directly from the device, thereby nurturing more effective collaboration.
“Our objective is to advance innovation through market-leading technology.”
“By partnering with Sony Semiconductor Solutions, we are able to set the pace and accelerate reality capture solutions to enable our customers to fuse the real world with real-time digital realities generated by sensors in order to create smart digital twins with stunning precision.”
Burkhard Boeckem continued, “Through the synchronisation of market-proven technologies led by Hexagon and Sony, in-field data capture and processing efforts will be reduced to enable faster and more collaborative data sharing via Hexagon’s digital reality cloud platform HxDR, the cloud-native platform for geospatial solutions at any scale.”
“Time-of-Flight technology is essential for creating a future in which autonomous solutions can streamline work processes and increase productivity,” said Eita Yanagisawa, Senior General Manager of System Solution Business Division at Sony Semiconductor Solutions.
“By collaborating with Hexagon, we are guaranteeing the integrity and precision of the data acquisition. This partnership has transformative potential in terms of reality capture solutions.”
