NXP and Eindhoven University of Technology will collaborate. University and business wish to develop a promising new communication technology. On Wednesday, the parties signed a contract for this purpose.
The Eindhoven Hendrik Casimir Institute will collaborate with company specialists from NXP. Both parties will contribute data, expertise, students, and employees to the collaboration.
Together, the chipmaker and TU/e intend to launch a “groundbreaking” new technology utilizing frequencies above 300 gigahertz. According to TU/e, current technologies that attempt to utilize these high frequencies function inconsistently.
“TU/e is renowned for its pioneering work in wireless communications, a crucial area for the strategic sovereignty of the Netherlands and Europe. Robert-Jan Smits, CEO, reveals that NXP has been a vital associate in this industry for many years.
Statistical record
“Part of NXP’s innovation strategy is collaboration with leading universities,” said Lars Reger, vice president of NXP.
“Because Eindhoven University of Technology has a proven track record of collaborating with industry, we are confident in expanding our collaboration.” This will result in new innovations in communication technologies and advanced driver assistance systems, a field in which NXP is the global authority in semiconductors.”
Collaboration
This is the second partnership TU/e has formed in a brief period of time with a significant player in the Brainport region. Earlier, it was declared that ASML will invest in the university by, among other things, constructing a clean room there.
